Destination of this tour is the southern part of the Island where the inspector Montalbano was created about 15 years
ago by the Sicilian author Andrea Camilleri, from Scicli to Ragusa, from Modica to Punta Secca. First stop of your trip
is Scicli, a typical Baroque city, after a walk in this magnificent town, you will have the chance to visit the
"Montalbano" police station, today it is the city hall.
We make our way to Punta Secca, to see the exterior of Montalbano's house, a small fishing village with a lighthouse, a
small port and an old watchtower (Torre Scalambri). Continue to Ragusa Ibla to see the Church of Vigata (Cathedral of San Giorgio), Piazza Pola, off the main street, becomes the site of the Inspector's police station. Finally you will visit Modica, that like the other towns in the Val di Noto, was damaged in the 1693 earthquake and rebuilt in Sicilian Baroquestyle. It is divided into the higher and the lower district, which are connected by a large step and with the San Giorgiostreet trough the warriors bridge, one of the highest in Europe. Finally Modica is the city of Salvatore Quasimodo, famous for the chocolate production, and for the Montalbano’s location.
