Terrazze dell’Etna is nature, is passion, is Etna reflecting his unique land to the product: it is the desire to create excellent wines in a place where all it is possible.
In 2008, the Bevilacqua family recovers, in the northern slope of Etna, the old terraces in Contrada Bocca d’Orzo by purchasing small plots of land, most of which are vineyards but abandoned and submerged by brambles, has been rediscovered the amphitheatre of terraces on which today they are cultivated vineyards, in that same year the work of restoration began using the ancient methods.
The company is located inside the Mount Etna Nature Park in the north-west slope between 650 mt and 950 mt above sea level.
Terrazze dell’Etna was founded with a specific goal of enhancing the terroir of Etna and its indigenous variety Nerello Mascalese.
After a first phase of recovering abandoned old centuries vineyards and now reported to the production, the project continued with the planting of new vineyards, many destined for an experimental production: the young vines of Nerello Mascalese are devolved to the vinification , while the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes are to become our classic method spumante.
Our company name comes from the amphitheatre of Etna Terraces supported by dry stone walls covering the landscape of the slope like steps embracing the forests of oak and chestnut trees. The lava stone terraces help the Nerello Mascalese, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Petit Verdot feed energy from Etna.
